“The Last of Us Remastered” coming to PlayStation 4

“The Last of Us” is coming to PlayStation 4 with upgraded graphics, all previously released downloadable content packs and commentary from the cast and developers, according to Sony Computer Entertainment of America’s official Twitter account.

The PS4 version of the hit PlayStation 3 game developed by Naughty Dog will include two multiplayer add-ons, the Abandoned Territories and Reclaimed Territories packs, and one piece of single-player downloadable content, “The Last of Us: Left Behind.”

The remastered version of the game will also feature full 1080p resolution, higher-resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting and upgraded textures, according to the European PlayStation Blog.

Neil Druckmann, creative director and writer of “The Last of Us,” said on Twitter that the team is hoping to have the game running at sixty frames per second on PS4.

Commentary tracks will also be included during in-game cinematics from Druckmann and Game Director Bruce Straley, as well as Troy Baker, the voice of Joel, and Ashley Johnson, the voice of Ellie, according to the European PlayStation Blog post.

The only single-player, story-driven piece of downloadable content, “Left Behind,” follows one of the game’s protagonists, Ellie, and her best friend Riley over the course of a night as they attempt to escape from a military boarding school. The add-on story flashes between Ellie and Riley’s escape three weeks before the events of the main story, and the aftermath of a pivotal fight that takes place late in the main story with Joel and Ellie.

The game will be released this summer, but no firm date has been given yet.
