Several shows are in production and planned for release on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows 8, according to a post today on Xbox Wire.
Two of the included programs are based on the hit “Halo” franchise. Steven Spielberg is executive producing an episodic series, and Ridley Scott is executive producing a “digital feature,” both of which take place in the “Halo” universe.
Dramas, comedies, unscripted shows and live events are planned to be release as a part of the Xbox Originals lineup.
It is unclear yet whether access to these programs will be available for all Xbox and Windows 8 owners, just those with an Xbox Live gold membership or if the shows will be bought per episode, per season or if a separate subscription will be required for Xbox Originals itself.
Other programs included in the initial lineup include a weekly comedy variety show put on by Jash, which was founded by comedians Sarah Silverman, Michael Sera and others, an unscripted series searching for talented undiscovered soccer players as well as a showcase of several acts at the Bonnaroo music and arts festival.
There will also be several a scripted dramas, the first of which will be called “Humans,” as well as a six-part documentary series dedicated to subjects that the creators think video-game players will be interested in.
The first episodes of the Xbox Originals lineup will begin airing this summer, according to the Xbox Wire post.
