September 1st. That’s when you can expect the latest entry in the “Metal Gear Solid” series to drop. “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” is being released on September 1st for PS4, PS3, Xbox one, and Xbox 360 with the PC version being released on September 15th.
In an interview with IGN, series creator Hideo Kojima said that this will be his last “Metal Gear” game. Keep in mind, though, he has said that during the production of every “Metal Gear” game since”Metal Gear Solid 2,” and has since gone on to work on “MGS3,” “MGS4” and “Peace Walker” on the PSP repeating the statement at every iteration.
Kojima also revealed that protagonist Snake won’t have much to say in “The Phantom Pain. “He sees Snake as an extension of the player and wants to let the supporting cast around him drive the story. This comes as a surprise considering the recasting of Snake’s voice awhile back from series regular David Hayter to “24” star Keifer Sutherland.
A collectors edition for the game was also announced that comes with a replica of Big Bosses bionic arm, a steel book case, a map and various downloadable content. “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” is set to be the biggest game in the franchise with its open world and dark, gritty story. It will also come packaged with the third iteration of “Metal Gear Online,” which will serve as the game’s multiplayer mode.
